Solutions for local indication 4-20 mA
Versatile N1040i
An important aspect of NOVUS brand products are their versatility. Having a product in stock, which is potentially a solution to various applications, is the ideal situation for distributors, integrators and users in the automation world. Reduced inventory, flexibility, safety and facilitated communication with suppliers, among others, are some of the benefits.
This same philosophy was used to develope the N1040i. The N1040i incorporates a number of features that make it a well known reference and world class digital panel meter.

- Retransmission of the measured variable

One example of application for N1040i that goes well beyond the traditional application of a digital panel meter:
Retransmission of the measured variable.
With this feature, in addition to local indication of the measured variable (temperature, for example), the equipment allows the measured value to be relayed to other devices remotely located in other areas of the plant to meet needs such as control, recording, supervision, etc. This retransmission is done via 4-20 mA current signal through analog output electrically isolated from the input of the indicator.
The N1040i performs the function of a single signal transmitter, in addition to the functions of a local indicator.
Another example is retransmission of the measured variable and serial communication.
In this application, in addition to local indication and retransmission of the measured variable, the indicator can be connected directly to a digital communication network of a plant floor thus allowing the user to remotely access a series of parameters.
N1040i, in this example, functions as both process signal transmitter and digital communication device, which eliminates the need to purchase extra equipment.
Auxiliary voltage source.
In applications where the use of a field transmitter is necessary, N1040i delivers local indication and also provides the necessary power to feed remote field transmitters while providing isolated 4-20 mA signal and RS-485 digital communication.
