Chemical and Biological Laboratories
The control of microorganism proliferation is one of the most challenges in chemical and biological laboratories. There is a high risk to harm the result of researches or products because of sterilized material contamination, causing non-compliance in strict procedures. The control requirement is even greater inside hospital facilities, as the chances of cross-contamination increase. With the adequate monitoring and control of the temperature, humidity, and pressure of the sterilized areas, it ensures a safe environment for such activities.

In the case of a reference hospital in southern Brazil, it was also necessary to monitor the temperature of incubators, industrial stoves, metrology baths, refrigerators, and freezers. The wireless gateway used to create a wireless sensor network was fundamental to the application because it reduces the risk of contamination. Integrated with field data storage, it was possible to store data directly in the on-premises hospital server. The decrease in contact contamination occurred because the previous procedure was downloaded the data locally through the USB port and the new procedure allows the automatic download, which means that all data are available for the responsible employees.

Pharmaceutical warehouses
The properties of drugs and chemical goods stored into pharmaceutical warehouses need to be preserved to prevent degradation. For that, the facilities climate conditions should be controlled under good practices standard and regulation, such as FDA 21 CRF Part 11. This regulation requires that humidity and temperature of pharmaceutical warehouses or laboratories facilities be properly monitored and recorded. It demands features like issuing reports with electronic signature (known as hash) and reviewing audit trail, which ensures that any change of data, parameter or signature is identified. All this control is necessary to avoid health consequences due to altered characteristics of the pharmaceutical or medicinal products.

With the temperature and humidity transmitter RHT-Air and the gateway AirGate Modbus, the above requirements can be met. The wireless technology used brings innovation with proprietary industrial communication that does not require the customer's IT infrastructure, operating independently from existing networks. Validation of Computerized Systems
Technological advances and the inclusion of new procedures has necessitated the creation of a specific standard for validating the monitoring systems and ensuring the manual measurement routines previously employed in the sector were replaced satisfactorily. Regulatory agencies like the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the United States, and ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency) in Brazil, concentrate efforts to create and enforce standard that ensure increased safety of drugs produced and stored by pharmaceutical companies. Chapter 11 of the standard deals specifically in setting out the criteria to ensure that the records obtained by electronic means are considered trustworthy, reliable and secure. Electronic records of data are generated by computer systems and stored on physical media and completely replace paper records. Electronic signatures are used to recognize user actions and have the same legal significance as a manual signature.
