NOVUS officially began activities at its new headquarters in Canoas, RS, on October 1st. Located in the Parque Canoas de Inovação, a planned initiative to bring together technology companies and research and teaching centers - the new space has more than five thousand square meters of built area, being three thousands of them dedicated to the factory. The investment was about R$ 20 million, including not only the expansion but also new machinery and equipment, which should, at the first moment, increase factory capacity by 30%.
The move to larger and more modern facilities is part of a set of actions of NOVUS strategic planning, which aims to double its revenues by 2020 and increase participation in national and international markets. Today, the annual production in volume is of 300 thousand units, being almost half for export. The increase in the company's operating activity should also generate new jobs.

There is an expression in Brazilian Portuguese to refer to something badly done: “made in the thighs”. But where does that expression come from? The most used explanation for its origin comes from the era of slavery in Brazil. The slaves that were unable to do heavy work were responsible for producing tiles, molding the clay on their thighs.
