+ What is accredited calibration?

Accredited calibration is one that is recognized by CGCRE/INMETRO network of national laboratories, in addition to other international bodies. The accredited label certifies that the calibration was carried out in one of the laboratories that make up this network.

+ What is the accredited calibration certificate?

The calibration certificate is a document, originated from the calibration activity, issued by a calibration laboratory that complies with the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard and that has reference standards traced to national (Inmetro) or international bodies.

+ What is traceable calibration?

Unlike accredited laboratories, the screened ones have their own methods, not always standardized, and don’t undergo ISO/IEC 17025 audits and evaluations. The traceable calibration isn’t accepted in many countries.

+ What is direct calibration?

Direct calibration, the reference is composed of one or a set of materialized measurements, it is applied directly to the measurement system to be calibrated. The materialized measurement must have defined uncertainties and sufficiently smaller than the uncertainty of the instrument to be calibrated.

+ Why calibrate measurement equipment?

The usual way to measure the metrological performance of a measurement instrument involves a procedure called "calibration". Calibration is used to verify how the values indicated by the measurement instrument relate to the measurand value.

+ What is the periodicity of equipment calibration?

In general, the standard of calibrating annually is adopted, but this period can be longer or shorter according to the use of the device or the degree of criticality of the process to which this equipment is associated.

+ How can we prolong the life of our measuring instruments and maintain reliability in our processes in relation to the results obtained?

The performance of periodic calibrations helps not only to prolong the useful life, but also to obtain better results in the use within the process, in addition to meeting the regulations in the market.

+ Is calibration the same as tuning?

No, calibration is the comparison of values between the equipment under test and a reference standard, to identify deviation (error) and measurement uncertainties associated with this error.
Adjustment, on the other hand, is a set of mechanical or configuration operations that seek to eliminate or reduce the error. The adjustment can only be performed on equipment that has this possibility and does not eliminate the possibility of measurement deviations even after the process has been carried out.

+ Is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration accepted worldwide?

Yes, because it is an international standard, recognized in more than 70 countries around the world, through mutual recognition agreements by ILAC.
